Here's something we've been working on for a few months now. Back in the 70's they were making Architectural Glass with a reflective exterior surface. It was a pyrolytic coating that was applied while the glass was still hot. It's referred to as "high performance" glass because it reflects much of the sun and heat out and away from the inside of the building.
However there are some difficulties associated with this type of glass when it comes to cleaning.
What has happened is a type of iridescence when trying to remove mineral deposits and waterspots. If anything with any abrasive is used, the pyrolytic coating is very easily removed. We discovered the hard way, only it wasnt that hard to do!
Many chemicals with any acids are too aggressive for the pyrolyitic coating as well. We have been experimenting with a few non toxic, biodegradible, "green" formulas with excellent results thusfar without damaging the exterior reflective coating. Please check the pictures and tell us if you have ever run into this type of problem in your window cleaning experience. Thanks
